For your information, it's good to know that the majority of the cPanel-based Hosting offerings on the present-day web hosting market are generated by a quite inconsiderable marketing segment (when it comes to yearly money flow) dubbed reseller hosting. Reseller web hosting is a kind of a small-scale marketing segment, which generates a huge quantity of different web hosting trademarks, yet providing exactly the same thing: chiefly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Owing to the fact that at least 98% of the hosting offerings on the whole website hosting market supply exactly the same solution: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting price tags are alike. Quite similar. Giving those who need a top web hosting service virtually no other hosting platform/web hosting CP option. Thus, there is just a single fact: out of more than 200,000 website hosting brand names worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2, note that one...

200k "Hosting companies", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely labeled

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offerings" Google presents to all of us come down to merely one and the very same solution: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different web hosting brand names. Assume you are simply an average person who's not very well aware of (as most of us) with the web site development processes and the hosting platforms, which in fact power the respective domain names and web pages. Are you prepared to make your web hosting selection? Is there any web hosting alternative you can select? Of course there is, these days there are more than two hundred thousand website hosting vendors in existence. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these 200k+ unique web hosting brand names all over the world will offer you strictly the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, named differently, with absolutely the same price tags! WOW! That's how huge the diversity on the present-day website hosting market is... Period.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all part of

Simple math demonstrates that to stumble upon a non-cPanel based web hosting provider is a colossal strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that an event like that will occur! Less than one in fifty...

The strengths and weaknesses of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be fierce with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and possibly covered most website hosting market requirements. In short, cPanel can do the job for you if you have just a single domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Disadvantage Number 1: A moronic domain name folder setup

If you have two or more domains, though, be extra watchful not to remove completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are very simple to erase on the hosting server, because they all are created into the root folder of the default domain, which is the very famous public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder situated inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to remove the files of the add-on domains, please. Examine for yourself how amazing cPanel's domain folder structure is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you growing disorientated? We absolutely are!

Downside No.2: The same mail folder structure

The e-mail folder configuration on the hosting server is exactly the same as that of the domain names... Making the very same error twice?!? The sysadmin blokes firmly increase their belief in God when coping with the electronic mail folders on the email server, hoping not to screw things up too badly.

Inconvenience Number 3: An entire lack of domain name administration options

Do we need to point out the entire shortage of a modern domain management user interface - a location where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or manage domains, change domains' Whois details, protect the Whois information, alter/create nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not involve such a "modern" user interface at all. That's an immense weakness. An unpardonable one, we would like to point out...

Drawback Number Four: Multiple login locations (min two, max 3)

How about the necessity for another login to use the billing transaction, domain and tech support administration GUI? That's beside the cPanel account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting service provider. At times, depending on the invoicing tool (especially built for cPanel exclusively) the cPanel Hosting service provider is using, the devoted clients can wind up with 2 extra login places (1: the invoice transaction/domain administration GUI; 2: the ticket support GUI), winding up with an aggregate of 3 user login places (including cPanel).

Negative Aspect No.5: More than a hundred and twenty website hosting Control Panel menus to memorize... briskly

cPanel presents for your consideration more than 120 sections inside the CP. It's a great idea to get to know each and every one of them. And you'd better memorize them briskly... That's excessively impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting corporations:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Remark that one too...
